Caskets
The
casket, or
American-style coffin, differs from traditional coffins in its
square shape and the particularity of its lid. The casket lid is divided into two parts: the
double raised lid is fixed with hinges on one side of the coffin, thus allowing the entire coffin to be kept open or, more often, to expose only a part of the deceased, the face and part of the bust, during the wake and the farewell ceremony.
